Commissioner Dave Henslee retired from policing with nearly twenty-eight (28) years of law enforcement service. He began his law enforcement career in 1993 with the City of Corvallis Police Department. Dave served in many capacities through his tenure in Corvallis rising to the rank of Captain.
Dave was hired as the Chief of Police for the City of Klamath Falls in 2015. As the Chief, he was responsible for planning, directing and leading the Klamath Falls Police Department consistent with community policing objectives. He established performance standards, developed processes that involve employees in decision-making and provided career development opportunities for staff. He managed and administered the department's annual budget to ensure quality, community-oriented and cost-effective services within the approved budget. He also conducted strategic and operational planning to ensure that services, programs, facilities and policing strategies met the City's changing needs and were financially viable.
As the Chief of Police, Dave served as a District Representative for the Oregon Association Chiefs of Police (OACP), was the co-chair of the OACP Law Enforcement Executive Leadership Institute, co-chair of the OACP Scholarship Committee and currently serves as a board member for the Oregon Accreditation Alliance. Dave is an active member of the Oregon Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates and served as a board member between 2014 and 2017.
Dave has a Bachelor of Science Degree from Oregon State University, earned an Executive Certificate from the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.
Dave owns and operates 5H Cattle Company in Merrill, Oregon. He and his wife love the rural way of life and find great pride in developing their family brand into a symbol of trust and respect.
Commissioner Henslee understands the importance of aligning government to meet the needs and expectations of the residents of Klamath County. He promotes awareness and public involvement in governmental processes and participates in public functions to promote and strengthen partnerships with our community.
